The train pulled away from the station, <br />it’s chiming sound fading in a distance. <br />She stood on the platform wiping her tears, <br />holding back her innermost fears. <br /> <br /> <br />His duty had him called, <br />the news had given her jolt. <br />Their married days had been few, <br />the memory of it still fresh and new. <br /> <br /> <br />He was a man with pride, <br />to his nation and honour he was tied. <br />She knew she had to be strong, <br />her reverie was broken by the church’s bong. <br /> <br /> <br />She stepped onto the cobbled street, <br />there were war victims to treat. <br />She made her way to church’s yard, <br />the recent bombing left it looking marred. <br /> <br /> <br />Tirelessly she looked after the wounded, <br />as each day, number of casualties mounted. <br />Her own fears were beginning to grow, <br />where was he, how was she to know? <br /> <br /> <br />She prayed for his safety day and night, <br />his face so vivid in her sight. <br />She closed her eyes and had a vision, <br />he was hurt by a shell’s fission. <br /> <br /> <br />Appeared unto her, his wraith, <br />‘with me’ he said ‘take a leap of faith.’ <br />‘My love will give you the strength to carry on, <br />I will be with you through our son to be born.’<br /><br />Anupama Anpat<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/leap-of-faith-11/
