We are just like two ships, <br />That are passing in the night. <br />On turbulent storm tossed seas. <br />Desperately reaching for the other, <br />Joining forces, strength in numbers. <br /> <br />Each time we reach for the ropes <br />Attached to each other’s anchor, <br />A giant wave slaps us aft. <br />Causing us much rancor! <br />Apart from each other and, <br />The safety of each other’s arms. <br /> <br />Through tears of separation, <br />We determine to hang on to hope. <br />Nearly drowning beneath powerful waves, <br />Our feet hit bottom, with the strength of love <br />We push against firm ground and once <br />We stand upright, and reach out toward love. <br /> <br />Just short of our exhaustion, <br />Our fingers finally clasp. <br />New energy surges through us, <br />We won’t let go of our grasp! <br />These bonds will never be broken. <br />No storm from this point onward, <br />Shall ever have it’s way with us. <br /> <br />Our lifesaver is love, <br />It was ordained from above. <br />It’s the anchor that steadies <br />All Life!<br /><br />Robert Edgar Burns<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/passing-ships-3/
