I'm a school student, <br />And a patriot, studying in native place, <br />While staying away from parents, <br />Who loves me a lot. <br /> But I love my beautiful village, <br /> Which is full of greenery and freshness, <br /> That doesn't give me the feeling <br /> Of staying away from my family. <br />But now, things have come to change, <br />Because of a nearby dam, between the boundaries of two states, <br />Which had been built years ago, <br />Now at the verge of destruction. <br /> The controversy and conflicts about <br /> This dam, is getting worst and <br /> The nature has done by giving <br /> Great warning on it. <br />My mother, who is away, <br />Is worried of my life, <br />As this destruction can wipe away <br />Thousands of innocent lives here. <br /> In my mind, I can see <br /> The tears of worry and fear <br /> In my mother's eyes and <br /> Her cry, which I can only hear. <br />Today, I can feel the strength <br />Of terror, which is increasing and <br />Keeping quiet, I think about the disaster, <br />That can cause, when the dam gets destroyed. <br /> I can see many poor and helpless <br /> People around me, with mind <br /> Full of great fear and stark terror, and <br /> Sleepless, as the coming disaster is haunting them. <br />But if I was with my family, <br />If we all are together, <br />There won't be any stress, even if <br />We are in big danger. <br /> With candlelight, people all over <br /> The country, is praying to the Almighty, <br /> To bring a solution for this, so that, <br /> We can still have a hope of survival. <br />------------- <br />Written on 28-November-2011<br /><br />Surya Shaji<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-dam-overflowed-with-tears/
