The coldness remains outside <br />As you are cared for in the warmth of the shelter. <br />The cold wind blows along with the insecurities of life, <br />Reaching the corners of the world. <br />With each new breeze the hopelessness <br />And rejection strengthen. <br />The terror of the night fills you eyes as you look <br />Out at the starless sky. <br />Disappointment and self- pity mock you as they stare you in the face. <br />Your anxiety builds as you ingest <br />All of those fears. <br />Heaviness fills your body until you close your eyes. <br />Away in your mind those fears <br />Can not reach you, <br />For you know they aren't real. <br />The figment of your imagination is locked out <br />Beyond those doors you are shielded behind. <br />That door will never open, <br />Those fears will never touch you. <br />You can stare back into those eyes <br />With a smile on your face, <br />For you know they will never enter <br />Your body, mind, or soul. <br />The roof over your head and the walls <br />Surrounding you, give you the joy <br />And peace needed to survive. <br />Laugh back in their faces and show them you <br />Have the strength to defeat anything that stands in your way. <br />You are strong and the door is locked.<br /><br />Kaitlin Schmidt<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/facing-the-evils/
