Rows of dogs <br />Splayed pon laboratory floor <br />Flesh barbarically stripped <br />From perfect healthy hips <br />Panting <br />Breathing <br />Drowsily <br />Lifting their heads in dismay <br />At the dog which besides it <br /> <br />Just lays.... <br /> <br />One <br />With its tongue hanging uselessly to the floor <br />Gazes at the camera <br />'What For? ' <br />Pet food companies <br />Billionaire sleaze <br /> <br />And the cages <br />Dans le dark nights <br />Ricochet howls as screams <br />Screams the like I have ne-er heard before <br />Nor would hope to witness again <br /> <br />Howling at a free cream moon <br />Which I doubt that they have seen <br /> <br />As paws tentative parade pon the metal bars where they must walk <br />Sleep <br />Shit <br />They must shit <br />It's all shit <br />'What For? ' <br /> <br />And those shepherd dogs <br />And beagles <br />Cross breeds <br />Cut guts <br />Intestines removed <br />Legs broken <br />And removed <br />Lungs and livers tested <br />'What For? ' <br /> <br />And that (sigh) little sandy dog that I doubt has ever been stroked <br />Leans towards the camera lady <br />Tail retaining a gentle <br />To and fro <br />As she looked the camera square in the eye <br />I cried <br />I cried <br />And the atrocities that she <br />And the others have to face <br />Overfeeding cats <br />Starve thereafter <br />'What For? ' <br /> <br />And that tiny tabby <br />Stared suspiciously through me <br />From her own <br />Barbaric cage <br />'What For?
