Little daughter standing there <br />Chubby cheeks and sunlit hair <br />Dripping wand, she's holding tight <br />Blowing hard, with all her might <br /> <br />Clouds of bubbles float off high <br />Coloured spheres, upto the sky <br />Happy squeals greet this fine sight <br />Sturdy legs dance with delight <br /> <br />Back to earth, the bubbles fall <br />Lazy cat puts out a paw <br />Hopes to snag a treasured prize; <br />Bubble bursts before his eyes! <br /> <br />Now dispersing everywhere, <br />One rests on a leaf; right there. <br />They swirl round her summer dress <br />Popping into nothingness <br /> <br />Long ago, this sunny day <br />When I sat and watched her play <br />Now she's grown, and flown, the nest <br />Love and guidance, our bequest <br /> <br />April came and saw a bride <br />Pride shone out of daddy's eyes <br />I remembered my small child <br />And her bubbles in the sky<br /><br />Maureen Pickford<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/bubbles-44/
