Upon my face, <br />I wear a smile; <br />Hiding my pains <br />For quite a while. <br /> <br />Keep others away, <br />For they might see <br />What truly lies <br />Inside of me. <br /> <br />I'm hurt and I'm frail. <br />I'm ugly and weak, <br />And these are the secrets <br />I must not let leak. <br /> <br />I put up my walls; <br />Keep everyone out. <br />For surely, this is <br />How this came about. <br /> <br />I let down a wall <br />To let someone in, <br />But that's when the drama <br />And depression begin. <br /> <br />Over and over, <br />I feel all the pain. <br />The pain that they deal while <br />I let them remain. <br /> <br />I keep on believing <br />It will all turn around <br />As my heart keeps on breaking, <br />Then falls to the ground. <br /> <br />It is now that i feel <br />So numb and alone. <br />Like my feelings were stripped <br />Right down to the bone. <br /> <br />So here I now stand, <br />So naked, so bare. <br />I've been hurting so long, <br />There'll be no repair. <br /> <br />So that's why I feel <br />No fun and no life, <br />And that's why you'll find me <br />Here, holding this knife<br /><br />Brittany Reedy<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-living-corpse-2/
