What do you think happens after death <br />are you buried till forgotten <br />or simply laid to rest <br /> <br />does your soul fall asleep <br />while your body but decays <br />or does it wither with your flesh <br />and end as soon as day <br /> <br />do their screams go unnoticed <br />as they fall in dark abyss <br />or are their bodies rendered <br />to the earth that gave them birth <br /> <br />are they coaxed by the heavens <br />gentle, sweet and slow <br />or are they torn from their world <br />gasping into the unknown <br /> <br />do they vanish into nothing <br />their life left but a wish <br />a graying, old photograph <br />the last and gentle kiss <br /> <br />or as their eyes close upon their house <br />they open in their home <br />the garden once promised <br />a palace, a throne <br /> <br />do they whisper in the heavens <br />and laugh amongst themselves <br />happy as the children <br />they left alone to dwell <br /> <br />do they watch us from the clouds <br />and peek out from behind the sun <br />do they kiss us goodnight <br />with every star they hung <br /> <br />or do they rot in their graves <br />and merge into the earth <br />their life is done <br />and so is their worth <br /> <br />the journey isn't taken <br />the path it stays unknown <br />only those who go before us <br />know and forever will know<br /><br />Amatullah Areeba Ashfaq<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/life-after-death-26/
