I saw you in a dream, said she, <br />you were only then a prophesy. <br />Or maybe it was fate, my dear— <br />though it mattered not to me. <br /> <br />The world a-buzzing, and I care free <br />to partake of life's forays. <br />Too busy to ponder broken hearts— <br />just living for today. <br /> <br />Then you came into my life, my dear, <br />and I took you—soon—for granted. <br />I thought you stifled me, my dear— <br />your feelings were soon supplanted. <br /> <br />Abrogating our time, my dear— <br />our kindled kinship was expunged. <br />A ripening apple soon was soured— <br />I'm now my own worst bitter judge. <br /> <br />I saw you in a dream, said she. <br />The bitterest of hypocrisy— <br />to charge you with a selfishness <br />when I only lived for me. <br /> <br />I saw you in a dream, my dear. <br />It should have come to no nonplus. <br />The world consists of relationships, <br />but I never thought of you—or us! <br /> <br />But you, my dear, got no warning— <br />though we may be born to depart. <br />I coldly killed the years of cheers <br />and learned my lesson with dark heart. <br /> <br />Though I know you're somewhere else, my dear, <br />I send my solemn apologies— <br />We could have shared such joy and pain, <br />but now I'm just with me.<br /><br />Kellie M.
