Some celebrate the birth of a baby <br />Others blow candles when age reach 40 <br />The rich say ‘Wow' when he gets bigger money <br />Rubber tappers are happy if the day is sunny <br /> <br />The standard set for jubilation is different <br />Inventors are happy, when the idea is brilliant <br />A mother screams with joy having a healthy infant <br />Economists is praised for being budget stringent <br /> <br />People show triumph in many ways <br />To staff, employer gives them salary raise <br />To students, teachers shower them with praise <br />Most rejoice for short while few celebrate for days <br /> <br />While we jubilate and be merry <br />Don't forget the folks who are unlucky <br />They may be recovering from a tragedy <br />Or from epidemic that have wiped the family <br /> <br />The world is full of controversy <br />One part is jubilant another in misery <br />Lucky ones, express your happiness softly <br />Those who suffer, may not feel too badly <br /> <br />To folks who are suffering in pain <br />Feeling helplessness, you must refrain <br />God-willing, the end will reign <br />You will get back to the fast lane <br /> <br />This poem was penned on the evening of first day of Eid Fitr, August 30th 2011.
