I ventured out beneath the moon, full, white and round... <br /> <br />I ventured out beneath the moon, full, white and round. <br />My boots broke the sheets of snow as I walked with the muse, my guide. <br />I approached the ocean and its starry, azure tide. <br />The breeze blew through my mind, yet I heard not a sound. <br /> <br />Then an angel arose, like a Siren on the waves. <br />Like a beautiful Phoenix, it came to me, <br />To take my soul beyond the skies, beyond the wild sea, <br />To eternal vistas, to shimmering, diamond enclaves. <br /> <br />I ascended to a rushing stream, <br />Beyond the realm of time, beyond a dream. <br />There I was welcomed by a gilded ball. <br /> <br />My love stood in a vestibule, and I heard the voice of God. <br />I had passed beyond the prison of earth, and though it might seem odd, <br />I found myself at home, loved by one and all.<br /><br />John Lars Zwerenz<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-ventured-out-beneath-the-moon/
