Ding! Shatters the dawn silence
The clinging of a door bell
Opened to greet her morn in freedom
Myself trapped and contained within my cell
Like a lion, star king, of the concrete
A soft summer wind, unheard
Shifting aim fully amidst the dimness
Hair slicked back as she yells
I run rapidly, back and forth, to see her
To see the glistening light within her eyes
Released from her containment
I'm restricted from freedom: confined, inside
Face pressed against the fence opening
To glance her determined stride
Taunting me as she approaches
The dawn blowing her surprise
She appears from the shadows almost laughing
Her face hiding a hideous smile
I know jealousy doesn't become me
So I stand here, head lowly bowed
Its ruff, being a dog imprisoned
With only a friend that's a cat outside

Alexander Coppedge

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/pur-fect-day/
