A stranger stood beside me, <br />on an early morning walk; <br />We smiled like polite strangers do, <br />and soon began to talk. <br /> <br />I knew that he, like I, was awed, <br />by the grandeur of the morn; <br />by the sight of meadows rolling past, <br />and fields of golden corn. <br /> <br />As we wandered down a rustic path, <br />I held out a rambling rose; <br />He sniffed it's heady fragrance, <br />and let it touch his nose! <br /> <br />We stepped under an ancient tree, <br />I marvelled at the green; <br />He nodded.. softly saying, <br />that's a shade he'd never seen. <br /> <br />'Just look up at that sparkling sky, <br />can you believe that blue? ! ' <br />He said he'd rather feel the grass, <br />kissed by morning dew! <br /> <br />I marvelled at cotton-clouds, <br />that scudded thru' the sky; <br />He marvelled at the birds we heard, <br />and the fact that they could fly! <br /> <br />When suddenly the world grew dark, <br />I saw the lightening flash; <br />My friend laughed out aloud and cried, <br />'Just hear that thunder crash! ' <br /> <br />The rain surged down in blinding sheets, <br />my sight grew blurred and dim; <br />My new friend strode on eagerly - <br />it didn't bother him; <br /> <br />'Lets run for it! ' I cried to him, <br />'It's no use walking on...' <br />'The rain has ruined everything, <br />all the magic's gone! ' <br /> <br />He smiled at me and whispered, <br />'Walk with me and feel the rain!
