I saw her, I didn’t need a second glance;
rushed to ask her, ’may I have this dance? ’
Somehow I knew her answer would be yes,
and to the Rumba rhythm we danced close.

That evening Cupid shot an arrow,
grazed my heart, wounded it.
I felt a twinge and somehow knew
the thing I felt was something new.

Love’s bittersweet fruit we tasted,
life’s sorrows and joys we shared.
Fort-five years have now gone by,
I kiss your lips ? the last goodbye,
my arms enfold you, can’t let you go,
my lips softly whisper I love you so,
my voice quivers as I sing to you
songs we so loved to dance to.

Alone I now must travel the road ahead,
where darkness and sorrow abound.
Who will now be my strength and stay,
now that the Lord has taken you away?

Guard me through life’s night,
guide my feet by your light,
soon I’ll see your angel face smile,
you whom I love but lost awhile.

Isam Hussain

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/my-patricia/
