A warm wind blowing lightly kicking up dust <br />Leaves of a mesquite tree swaying with rhythm <br />Stale water from a recent rain <br />Masked with a gleaming sun’s prism <br />An ocotillo dancing with lizards underneath <br />A mesa in the sunset with a towering shadow <br />Cacti in formation like that of a soldier <br />Awaiting a Moon as if protecting the glow <br />A river dissecting from bank to bank <br />A dry wash starving for a drink <br />A cottontail hiding from a hawk up above <br />Camouflaged in silence not even a blink <br />A starry night or one that’s pitch black <br />A rattler out looking for heat <br />While at it searching for a meal <br />A desert rat my what a treat <br />What a Beautiful place this desert I’m in <br />Monsoon rains what a wonderful scent <br />There’s no place like home unpredictable place <br />A love for life in this haven I’ve spent<br /><br />Oscar Robles<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/my-desert-2/
