To an untrained eye <br />She is perfect <br />But I know better <br />How very broken <br />This poised manicured mannequin <br />Stitched with sunstreaked <br />Feathery falling hair <br />She purchased at the parlor <br />From Daddy's hard earned dollars <br />Now hers to spend splendid <br />And with great insignificance <br />That twinkle in her eye <br />From contact lens created <br />And should you be envious <br />Of her shimmering seamless tan <br />You too can be sprayed <br />To a glistening shine <br />The mutilating mural of the myriad <br />Of tattoos tell her story <br />Of still struggling for something <br />Important to say <br />With a new piercing to catch the light <br />Of the her dimming self esteem <br />Beyond the glamorous grin <br />Of porcelain veneers and plumped up lips <br />I see the shadow of a pout <br />And while she accessories with <br />Only the most flawless of stones <br />I notice she has not one mirror <br />In her home<br /><br />Susan Lacovara<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/wax-figure-fragile/
