We are just speckles in the cloud <br />Unseen and unrecognized in the crowd; <br />Yet of our human form we are proud <br />And proclaim our lofty airs aloud. <br /> <br />Wealth we make for our journey’s need; <br />It will not last to serve our greed; <br />It will desert its master the way it came <br />To get enslaved to it is a perpetual shame. <br /> <br />Youthful vigor, power and strength <br />Are set to fade and wither at length; <br />Time consumes our vitals like fire <br />The woods, to languish like a smoldering ire. <br /> <br />Self is our ego bloated by pelf <br />An illusion borne of our station <br />To treat the lesser souls with derision <br />And many swayed to act on our behalf. <br /> <br />Humility is the noblest human trait; <br />To know a lot yet to assume not, <br />To help a lot, for self it is naught, <br />To give a lot and remember it not<br /><br />Venkateswaran Krishnan Sreenivasan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/humility-35/
