With respite, comfort, solace; <br />Reached monsoon <br />Bringing rain to filling rivers, soaking meadows <br />Showering mountains <br />Sprinkling woods, valleys......... <br />All drenched with joy of rain <br />Grasses come alive <br />Little souls beneath grasses <br />On merrymaking, looking happy <br />Little birds singing songs of joy <br />And everything around looking fine and jolly <br /> <br />Last monsoon <br />Pilgrims charged with spiritual energy <br />Made their way to Kedernath, the holy shrine <br />To worship and pray <br />When rain played havoc on their way <br />And it came as the sorrow of the day <br /> <br />Landslides and other forms of devastation came their way <br />Monsoon fury or rain fury or flood fury <br />Whatever it may be, we call it nature's fury <br />Unleashing a lot of damage to innocent lives <br />Some not yet found, some buried alive <br />And some forever washed away <br />For years to come <br />Tragedy of this magnitude termed as national calamity <br />Could not be written off our memory <br />To their bereaved families <br />Go our sympathies with prayers <br />That may God give them strength to bear the tragedy <br /> <br />Is the monsoon on rampage <br />Churning out mayhem <br />Holding devotees' faith on thou art at bay? <br />Oh God! have mercy on thy devotees <br />For they are on their way <br />To thy door to worship and pray....!<br /><br />DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/monsoon-fury/
