She walks alone <br />on a dark, and humid <br />July night, <br />her ear buds in <br />and music playing <br />to past help the time, <br />she cautiously looks back <br />and suddenly she sees sparks fly, <br />and hears the muffles popping of a gun, <br />in the distance <br />she hears the faint whispers <br />of someone crying out <br />in unimaginable agony and pain, <br />two men dressed all black yell out in to the night, <br />'STOP GET HER SHE'S SEEN TOO MUCH! ! ! ' <br />they have seen her, she must get away, <br />she is being chased, <br />She screams out in terror, <br />and her heart quickens with fear, <br />she is running faster than she ever has <br />but she know its not fast enough, <br />they are too quick, <br />trembling with fear <br />she fumbles to dial 9-1-1 on her cell, <br />screaming, begging, and crying to the operator <br />'Please send help now! ! ! They'll kill me' <br />and the police are on their way, <br />but the black dressed men are catching up fast <br />and she know the police will never make in time <br />the foot steps of her pursuers <br />catch up, its too late, <br />they wrestle her to the ground <br />and the two men draped in black <br />commit another murderous deed <br />and slip into the dark July night, <br />never to be seen again <br />She gasp one more time as she lies dying scared and alone, <br />on the cold hard cement in a pool <br />of her own blood, <br />the police find her lifeless cold body <br />moments later, <br />They wonder if only they had arrived sooner <br />maybe they could have saved her, <br />An innocent young women, <br />whose only crime was <br />being in the wrong place at the wrong time <br />in a dark and humid <br />July night<br /><br />Nicole GravellPellerino<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-dark-july-night/
