I'd rather pop my ass to Jay-Z <br />than try my hand at poetry. <br />haiku, sonnet, villanelle- <br />I'd rather spend a day in hell. <br />From Shakespeare to Frost <br />and all in between; <br />'Hawk', 'The Waste Land', and 'Annabel Lee', <br />All these poems I love to read. <br />But to waste away a summer day, <br />even perched upon a weather vane, <br />(this shit causes me so much pain) <br />the rhymes don't come, <br />I wax and wane. <br />I'd gladly wrangle nine Great Danes, <br />and eat a dozen candy canes, <br />while dancing naked in the rain, <br />to country music: <br />boot, scoot, twang... <br />Think I'll stick just <br />to my own thang!<br /><br />Mimi Boyle<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/since-you-asked/
