It's been so long since I've risen with the sun.
There had to be a reason and there was none.
Hopeful mornings kissed by dew's sweet gleaming
Ignored in the humdrum of toil and trouble streaming.

The sky has never been so clear and blue
It holds a secret to promises untrue.
The clouds never looked so fair and soft below
They carry the yoke kept deep in this heart of mine so slow.

The air at night is crisp and biting
Like the bewitching caress of first love inviting.
The street where I lived is undone
Where have all the innocents gone?

New faces, strange spaces
Litter the landscape of my doddering embraces.
Looks like rain will drench the spirit
The future have we seen it?

The bay is still sublimely breathtaking
Where I sit and watch the orange orb sinking.
But why have stilts taken the place of trees
And the river banks into concrete freeze?

Back in the yard kaimitos fall unripe
The mango tree waits for summer to arrive.
What is it about children's laughter?
They sizzle and crackle in everlasting banter.

There is a melody in my head
Haunting me with relentless stead.
Ah, but the song remains the same
And what is love but a bloody little game.

Once upon a blue moon up on a hill
Fireflies fell like teardrops and life stood still.
When you wish upon a blue moon up in the clouds
Moonbeams gather splendor in the afterglow of doubt.

Blue moon, blue moon
Now I'm no longer alone.
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own.

Denn Meneses

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/blue-moon-over-catbalogan/
