You open your mouth to speak <br />when she asks you how you are <br />But she cuts you off with her own complaint <br />about a problem with her car <br /> <br />She rattles on about everything <br />that’s driving her insane <br />The petty stuff about the cat <br />and her walk out in the rain <br /> <br />You listen most intently <br />the way a good Mum should <br />whilst the pain that throbs within you <br />is doing you no good <br /> <br />She tells you she feels hungry <br />Asks for a bite to eat <br />then asks you if you have some cash <br />She ripped the babies seat. <br /> <br />You hobble to the nearest chair <br />and rest your body there <br />She still doesn't know you're hurting <br />She probably doesn't care <br /> <br />She asks you if you'll baby-sit <br />She's going out today <br />The baby will be good as gold <br />she will just sit down and play. <br /> <br />All you have to do <br />is watch her <br />guard her every move <br />feed her change her and cuddle her <br />if she gets in a mad mood <br /> <br />She hugs you tightly and waves goodbye <br />baby left upon the floor <br />She blows a kiss to the child <br />then disappears out the door <br /> <br />Your pain is getting harder <br />all you want is to have a rest <br />You smile at your precious grandchild <br />she is the very best <br /> <br />You know you'll feel better <br />just having her so close <br />some pain relief will fix you up <br />you'll take your usual dose <br /> <br />A Mother never falters <br />she's the rock in a sandy stream <br />through all that she endures <br />Love will reign supreme<br /><br />Janice M Pickett<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/ode-to-motherly-love/
