Ridah Ellahi - The Quest

I look down at the people,
They look up at me.
Can’t see past my smile.
Can’t see my agony.

I felt suffocated.
I let it all out.
I now feel free,
Beyond a trace of a doubt.

Can’t these people see,
I used to be broken.
My wings are now free.
My cage is now open.

What is this place?
Who are these people?
Does all this have a meaning?
Does this go any deeper?

Why doesn’t my dilemma,
Affect these people?
Makes them strong,
Or perhaps even weaker.

To them it does not matter,
When I cry, scream or bleed.
It is of no significance.
They pay no heed.

Entangled in their own lives,
Not a moment to rest.
What is it that they are looking for?
What is this quest?

Trying to get a happy ending,
Is a mere hallucination.
Thinking about destiny,
What a pitiful imagination.

Trying to find something,
Something to achieve.
Is that the answer to this quest,
That we all need desperately?

Trying to find an answer,
To life’s mysteries.
Trying to find a way,
To put an end to their miseries.

Can not find an answer,
Though I tried my best.
What are we trying to find?
What is this quest?

Ridah Ellahi

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-quest-20/
