I have received so many gifts, <br />But one of them was new. <br />The others were covered in paper, <br />Some of green, red and blue. <br /> <br />One stood out amongst them all, <br />It was adorned in a way not known. <br />It shinned like diamonds, <br />It glowed as if the sun. <br />It was a gift that God had given, <br />From His Father and the Son. <br /> <br />I quickly took it too one side, <br />Unwrapping slowly to see. <br />But I noticed there was writting on the wrapper, <br />'You Need Not Open To Be' <br /> <br />This gift was given to you my dear, <br />For all mankind to hold. <br />Inside us all is My gift to you, <br />It is more precious then silver or gold. <br />The gifts of life, the gifts of love, and joy, <br />From your Father God above. <br /> <br />The other gifts looked as nothing now, <br />For they one day all will disapear. <br />Of their earthly value we seem to place on them, <br />Given only that moment of cheer. <br /> <br />So I'll keep this one if you don't, mind, <br />It is God's special gift to me. <br />And will remember His words there written, <br />'You Need Not Open To Be'<br /><br />Linda Winchell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/special-gift-4/
