Blood drops on the floor again <br />Are evidence of my nightly sin <br />Leaving slits across my skin <br />Blood drips from my arm as tears drip from my chin. <br /> <br />Slicing my flesh helps to relieve the hurt <br />Giving way to waves of joy and comfort <br />Flowing adrenaline making me fully alert <br />Covering my tracks with a long sleeve shirt. <br /> <br />Pressing down hard, not being afraid <br />Knowing that my one true friend is this blade <br />Hiding behind a life so dismayed <br />Hoping in time that emotional pain will fade. <br /> <br />I know these actions are ill conceived <br />But afterward my pain is relieved <br />My entire life I have secretly grieved <br />Blood dripping from the razor grants me a short reprieve. <br /> <br />Day after day; night after night <br />Hiding my actions in the absence of light <br />When blood meets metal my emotions ignite <br />Crossing the boundaries between wrong and right. <br /> <br />Cut after cut, like a pathway to hell <br />Thinking of death as my eyes start to swell <br />I bear so much pain but carry it well <br />My rhyme is now over, nothing more left to tell.<br /><br />J R Reynolds<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/self-inflicted-wounds-3/
