Cuts, burns and scars <br />Remind me of my sorrow <br />Wishing it would all just end <br />Wishing to start fresh tomorrow. <br /> <br />Unable to understand <br />Why I do the things I do <br />Wanting to be happy again <br />Wanting to start new. <br /> <br />Happiness is not a word <br />It's more of an illusion to me <br />No matter how hard try <br />It stays just out of my reach. <br /> <br />Pain fills my heart <br />Consuming my will to live <br />I have nothing more to offer, <br />My life is the last thing to give. <br /> <br />Making it though the day <br />Is not as easy as you would think <br />I barely seem to function, <br />I cannot sleep, eat or drink. <br /> <br />So when the pain is too much <br />And I am pushed to the extreme <br />This razor helps me find myself again <br />This razor help blow off some steam. <br /> <br />As the metal glides across my flesh <br />The rush makes me feel alive <br />Blood spots rise to the surface <br />As my soul starts to revive. <br /> <br />Inch after inch; cut after cut <br />Emotional pain escapes from the gash <br />What once was trapped, now escapes <br />From a self inflicted slash. <br /> <br />Remembering not to cut too deep <br />Trying not to cause a panic <br />Wondering why I feel so much joy <br />In a ritual so satanic. <br /> <br />So many new cuts to hide <br />Is this nights barbaric ending <br />I must leave you now; goodnight my friends <br />My wounds need much tending.<br /><br />J R Reynolds<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/pain-is-a-four-letter-word/
