The endless ocean that spread before me
Seemed to portray my life
The never ending series of events
Where the high tides of joy were followed
By the slumps of loneliness
The waves splashed against the rocks
With all their might
But they failed and retrieved
It’s funny how I can relate to these
I had banged my fists on all the doors
That had mercilessly closed on me
Every ray of light-of hope-
That shone on my face
Was blocked
I walked on the soft sand
Leaving a trail of footprints behind me
They didn’t stay for long
The waves spread like the arms
Of the majestic beast
And swallowed the imprints
That my feet had left behind
It was a though I was never there
My existence was of no significance
My presence, gone unnoticed
People think I am being ungrateful
When I wish to be invisible
To disappear
From the agonizing glare of the people
But they don’t know
My hearts’ deepest cry
They don’t know
How badly I wish
To just have a normal life
To be just another face in the crowd
Maybe if I was ordinary
I could find someone who cared for me
And loved me for who I am;
Not for what the world sees me as…

Ridah Ellahi

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/my-hearts-deepest-cry/
