Finding your own little slice of Appalachian solitude in the country's most-visited national park is easy if you know how to get off the beaten path. Our advice: Hike the Cosby area in the northeast corner of the park. It sees a mere fraction of the traffic that Cades Cove and other well-known areas receive.
