Where’d they get posies <br />In the ring around Rosie’s? <br />And why were there ashes there? <br />And how about the cupboards <br />Of old Mother Hubbard? <br />Did she ever hear of Welfare? <br />And why would a boy stick in a thumb, <br />When he could have used a spoon? <br />Had I been there to see that square, <br />I’d have sent him to his room. <br />Where on Earth did a duckling have birth, <br />Just to then become a swan? <br />It’s like Peter Pan being born as a man, <br />And spending all day with that Tinker, <br />Who liked rough play and teasing all day, <br />As he rang his bell, that stinker. <br /> <br />What then is Fee, <br />And Fo- Fum, Answer Me? <br />I really do want to know it. <br />I really don’t understand, <br />Planting beans in the sand, <br />And that stalk why would they grow it? <br />And what about the teapot, <br />Who talked about his spout? <br />Then back stabbed his handle, <br />What could that be about? <br />And then there was that Wonderland, <br />And that lost girl we’ll call Alice? <br />She looked into a looking glass, <br />And woke up in some palace. <br /> <br />And why would anybody <br />Rock a baby in a tree? <br />Don’t they know they <br />Are supposed to wait <br />Until the child turns three? <br />These are things <br />I need to know. <br />If you can’t tell me, <br />Then you can just blow!<br /><br />Robert Edgar Burns<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/blow-4/
