Taken for granted- <br />That is how I feel. <br />'That was never warranted, ' <br />I defended with all my zeal <br /> <br />If she was tired of me <br />She could have told me so; <br />She must like being around me <br />As she never said 'Go' <br /> <br />At first it was subtle <br />Then between my heart and my head suspicious began to shuttle <br />Later it became obvious <br />That my gentle-as-a-dove has turned vicious <br /> <br />But could it be <br />That she started it <br />So I could see <br />I was no longer fit? <br /> <br />Because this is more than anger <br />It is a lack of love <br />After her I did hanker <br />And now I'm no longer her love! <br /> <br />But even if she loves him <br />And no longer 'loves' me <br />My liveliness will not dim: <br />She is not indispensable to me!<br /><br />Ayokunle Adeleye<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/taken-for-granted-6/
