Can anybody here me? <br />Is anybody there? <br />Is God alive and can He see? <br />This life I have to bear <br /> <br />I know I’ve practiced evil things <br />Yet some have done much worse <br />How come they’ll rise on angel wings? <br />Whilst I remain here cursed <br /> <br />Lord is it fair that I should fail? <br />That I in shame must die <br />Whilst others say You’ve paid their bail <br />And promised life on high <br /> <br />Can I not seek forgiveness too? <br />Can I not mend my ways? <br />Can I not join Your chosen few? <br />Who’ve found eternal grace? <br /> <br />Forgive this wretch of flesh and bone <br />Please here my humble prayer <br />I know these thoughts are not my own <br />So could it be You care? <br /> <br />Lord if it’s real and You are true <br />If Christ’s alive and well <br />I pray dear God You save me too <br />And lift my soul from hell <br /> <br />For me You’ve made it simple Lord <br />Through Christ You’ve set me free <br />I’m safe from death and judgement sword <br />For all eternity <br /> <br />My prayer is yet for others now <br />For sinners bound to die <br />That they to Christ their knees may bow <br />And join the blessed on high<br /><br />Michael P.
