The Unsinkable Titanic sat along the English shore <br />As 2,200 people climbed aboard <br />Several days into the trip <br />An iceberg collided with the ship <br />Causing the Titanic to crack <br />Those who knew what happened, ran toward the back <br />Fearing that it would cause more harm <br />It was decided not to sound the alarm <br />Most of the 3rd class passengers couldn't get away <br />Exits were impossible due to locked passageways <br />Knowing that they would soon be dead <br />Hundreds gathered in a circle and prayed <br />Knowing that even if the lifeboats were filled to capacity <br />There would still be at least a thousand casualties <br />The longer the Titanic could stay afloat <br />More lives could be put in a boat <br />Right before the Titanic broke in half <br />The Captain released his staff <br />Those that were left aboard struggled with all of their might <br />They tried to hold on but it was to be a lost fight <br />You could hear the people yell and shout <br />As they lost their grips and fell out <br />As they slid across the deck they tried to grab a hold <br />To keep from falling in the water that was freezing cold <br />866 people were saved by the lifeboats <br />The remainder perished because they couldn't stay afloat <br />On April 15,1912 over a thousand people did drown <br />As the Titanic went to it's final resting place 2 1/2 miles down.<br /><br />Ginny Cadle<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-final-resting-place/
