Hath Sound alone a voice? Nay, 'tis not so: <br />Silence can speak unto the inner ear, <br />If it be finely tuned and keyed to hear- <br />A meaning-laden message, soft and low. <br /> <br />Silence hath secrets of the farther spheres, <br />And echoes caught from the Eternal Sounds <br />That, past all earthly and diurnal bounds, <br />Are symphonies unto Eternal Ears. <br /> <br />Alas! our baser senses but discern, <br />At moments rare, some faint and broken note- <br />Some few words from the Perfect Poem float <br />To us.
