The devil’s chains, once had me bound <br /> Within my loathsome jail <br />Until the day God’s truth I found <br />And Jesus; paid my bail <br /> <br />This slave was free! No-more alone <br />Still God; I failed to see <br />The One who bought me as His own <br />Wherever could He be? <br /> <br />I know my Saviour lives within <br />I know because I feel <br />I know because I’m cleansed of sin <br />And have Salvation’s Seal <br /> <br />“You’re free; my child, go on your way” <br />I heard my Master’s voice <br />“You’re free to work, to sin and play <br />You’re free, to make your choice” <br /> <br />I loved the sound, that “I” was free <br />To choose what I could do <br />I turned to Him I couldn’t see <br />And said “I’ll stay with You” <br /> <br />Christ took from me, my heavy load <br />He gave to drink Life’s Wine <br />I felt my heart would soon explode <br />God’s Spirit now was mine <br /> <br />Almighty God; had come to me! <br />Such warmth I feel within <br />Now all I’ve heard, I must agree <br />It’s foolish still to sin <br /> <br />From Christ; this child, will never leave <br />The world has nought for me <br />No more can Satan’s lies deceive <br />I’m free!
