Four Taliban militants have been killed during an attack on a NATO base in Afghanistan that destroyed 37 trucks full of fuel and supplies.<br /><br />The assault took place in the parking compound of an outpost near the Pakistani border, close to the Khyber Pass.<br /><br />The attackers set off explosives and fought an hour-long gun battle with police.<br /><br />Three of the men were killed in the gunfire while the fourth blew himself up, according to local officials.<br /><br />A witness said one Afghan driver was injured.<br /><br />The area provides a key supply route for NATO-led forces. Militants on both sides of the border often attack supplies destined for troops in Afghanistan.
