A salmon sun slips shifting the setting,
When like a light love sheds radiance
On life’s dark days casting clouds to bay,
And from a parched peak water falls white roaring
At the basin vomiting at its mouth.
Charmed by nature’s rainbow colours,
Hope and love in limitless patience break
The captive chains with joy that leaps
Those prison walls and spins like a pigeon
Around the Dog Star on guard,
And while the hour hands inch in sun and shade
Time ticks love’s dreams of immortality
Where grab and greed and lust and lies hold
No sway save for the gold standard of truth,
Where honest hearts hallmarked with minted minds,
Water the flames of fear;
Above mountains, night freezes out dusk
And darkness like a drape drops dead,
But for the flag of love rippling
Gently in the breeze.
The piper calls his tune and every note
Sings a melody that carries in its genes
Pitch and rhythm, the nectar of motion
And music that feeds love to the soul.
Love is the prime mover, the base of being,
Love is....
Lord of the dance.

Robert Dummett

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lord-of-the-dance/
