I Live in the alleys <br />Feed on left-over scraps <br />Inhaling exhaust fumes <br />sleep on Cardboard <br />I wake <br />With eyes on the ground <br />Move with intent <br />Burst from the shadows <br />To seek out the night <br />I rise <br />Full moon lights the sky <br />So big you can touch it <br />Almost too bright <br />For what I have planned <br />I think <br />Banks are asleep <br />Suits have all gone <br />New shift has started <br />Life on the street <br />I want <br />Johns hiding their faces <br />Punks staring you down <br />Girls throwing out looks <br />June pushing her cart <br />I see <br />My friends are all here <br />Long block after block <br />I keep going on <br />I pass by it all <br />I walk <br />Sirens in the distance <br />Construction starting up <br />Cat-fight in the laneway <br />An idling lonely cab <br />I hear <br />I stop I look I stare <br />I'm standing in the square <br />It all comes flooding back <br />I know that I am home <br />I arrive <br />I never need a key <br />The door is never locked <br />Elevator broken <br />I turn towards the stairs <br />I ascend <br />My knees are killing me <br />My teeth are full of rot <br />I find it hard to breathe <br />I think my nose is broke <br />I hurt <br />I finally reach the top <br />Kick the roof door open wide <br />The wind assaults my face <br />I've got no where to hide <br />I fear <br />I'm soaked with evening dew <br />I walk the steel beam <br />Looking down upon the world <br />Living on the edge of love <br />I fell<br /><br />empty shell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-fell/
