The Recent Surge helped reduce the insurgency. <br />Children died – Mother's wept wildly, Wives lost husbands, husbands lost wives <br />Children orphaned in a moment quickly stripped of any innocence or comfort they had known <br /> <br />More was lost than gained for the targeted; the cost staggering both mentally and monetarily <br />The Recent surge only fueled more resistance as vows and screams of revenge arose, <br />whilst the roar of attacker's aircraft fled the carnage towards the sanctuary of their base <br /> <br />Annihilation of civilians from high flying aircraft is always effective - <br />Back at base, a round of joyous applause, for they considered themselves not cowards <br />or war mongers or any other words that might describe “following orders” <br />Feeling they were more like excellent practitioners and skillful executioners in a hands off war. <br /> <br /> © Calac<br /><br />Chris Lane<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/recent-surge-against-insurgency/
