Mr Jobsworth <br /> <br />My name is Everett Jobsworth, <br />an' I'm the governor of this Texas prison, <br />I follow all my orders, <br />an' I follow one true vision. <br />I believe what it says in the Good Book, <br />I believe in an eye for an eye, <br />and that anyone, if a life he took, <br />then that person just gotta die! <br />I ain't worried if the guy they jailed, <br />could be innocent, that ain't no reason why, <br />when all of his appeals have failed, <br />that he should not now have to die. <br />No matter that the evidence which <br />convicted him, was slim to say the least, <br />I'm gonna make sure the sonofabitch, <br />goes to meet the Biblical beast. <br />It ain't my job to question why, <br />an innocent man may be put to death, <br />my job is to see he dies, <br />and to obey until my last breath, <br />I'll tell the world, I'll shout it loud, <br />I love my job and I'll never shirk, <br />my life is good, and I am proud <br />to be doing Almighty God's own work!<br /><br />Tom Higgins<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/mr-jobsworth/
