At first, things were fine; we got on quite well, <br />Sharing our thoughts we started to gel <br />The hours that we spent together were few <br />But, they meant such a lot and all of us knew <br />That we were quite special, a team built to last <br />We looked to the future and didn’t dwell on the past. <br />But, then something changed, I don’t know quite what <br />Did I do something wrong, did I lose the plot? <br />My phone calls weren’t answered, my emails ignored <br />I started to think perhaps they’ve got board <br />I tried to ask why, but no response came <br />So I put in more effort, but all was in vain <br />I just never saw them and had to contend <br />That perhaps it was over and this was the end. <br />Then suddenly out of the blue they appear <br />Needing my time, holding me dear <br />Oh Teacher they cry please help us right now <br />We've course work to finish and just don’t know how <br />You see our future's at stake and time has run out <br />So you just have to help us, this instant, don’t pout <br />You must see us right now to get all this done <br />I know we skipped lessons, and probably should’ve come. <br />But that’s all behinds us, you’re special and kind <br />So mark all our stuff and if you don’t mind <br />Return it tomorrow as the deadline is now <br />And if you do, we promise, we vow <br />That we will be better, consistent and true <br />So next when we meet we won’t say ‘who are you? ’ <br />We will remember that you’re helpful to us <br />And won’t run away and jump on a bus <br />As you stand there waving and going bezerk <br />Because we've not been to class or completed our work <br /> No, we’ll get back together and things will be fine <br />And perhaps if you’re lucky we'll value your time.<br /><br />Teedy Dawn<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-teachers-lament/
