Three Ukrainian soldiers killed as violence continues in the east despite cease-fire

As the cease-fire extension draws to an end in eastern Ukraine a government army convoy has come under attack near the town of Slovyansk.<br /><br />According to Ukranian officials three soldiers were killed during the shoot out with pro-Moscow rebels.<br /><br />Sporadic fighting has been ongoing throughout the eight-day cease-fire in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.<br /><br />In Kyiv people gathered close to the presidential palace to protest against the truce, which many believe plays into the hands of the pro-Russians. <br /><br />A Ukrainian soldier gave his opinion: “The first thing we have to do to stop the violence is establish martial law in Donetsk and Luhansk. If this is not done I believe the area of the anti-terrorist operation will grow, because the terrorists will have more and more weapons and we will have more and more victims as they continue to get stronger.”<br /><br />Newly elected President Petro Poroshenko has put a 15-point peace plan on the table in an attempt to end the chaos, which has claimed the lives of 420 people to date.
