Shots fired in Slovyansk pierced through the ceasefire in effect until Monday night.<br /><br />The Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the ceasefire to be extended during a conference call with the leaders of France and Germany. <br /><br />They are calling on the Kremlin to use its power to get pro-Russian rebels to disarm in order to begin peace talks.<br /><br />In a residential district of Slovyansk three civilians were killed when the area was shelled. The Interfax news agency claims the artillery fire originated from the Ukrainian forces. Residents have had enough.<br /><br />“What is it, a truce? How can it even be called a truce? Can’t Poroshenko and his newly-elected government see what is happening, that people are dying?” asked one Slovyansk resident.<br /><br />According to Kyiv another conference call will be held tomorrow, in an effort to find a solution to the crisis.<br /><br />The EU has made clear that if no progress is made on ceasefire arrangements further sanctions on Moscow will be considered.
