France’s former President Nicolas Sarkozy has been detained by police over suspected influence-peddling. <br /><br />Sarkozy reportedly arrived early on Tuesday to be quizzed by investigators in the west of Paris after his lawyer was held on Monday. <br /><br />The ex-French leader’s questioning relates to a raft of corruption cases. <br /><br />Among other things police are also said to be trying to establish whether Sarkozy, with the help of his lawyer, attempted to pervert the course of justice. <br /><br />Under French law suspects can be held up to 48 hours before they must be charged or released.
