Thousands of Belgium fans in Brussels have celebrated their team’s victory against the United States in the World Cup round of 16.<br /><br />Also known as the Red Devils, Belgium beat the US 2-1 after extra time.<br /><br />They will now face Argentina in the quarter finals on Saturday.<br /><br />Meanwhile, across the Atlantic in Washington DC the atmosphere was a lot more sombre.<br /><br />Thousands of fans gathered at the city’s Freedom Plaza near the White House to watch the match.<br /><br />“I’m a little disappointed (sighs). I guess I’m a little sad,” said one woman.<br /><br />Stefan Grobe, euronews correspondent in Washington:<br /><br />“Belgium was the last stop on this terrific journey of Team USA in Brazil. Now the party is over – but maybe not the enthusiasm for football.”
