NASA has successfully launched its Orbiting Carbon Observatory, the agency’s first probe to measure atmospheric carbon dioxide on a global scale. <br /><br />Scientists have been waiting since 2009 for this tool; the first was lost when a launcher exploded.<br /><br />It is NASA’s second earth science mission this year. Three more are planned.
