A Guatemalan court has sentenced Solano Barillas to 90 years in prison for a massacre committed during the country’s 1960 – 1996 civil war.<br /><br />The 55-year-old leftist guerrilla commander was arrested and charged in 2012 after the victims’ relatives filed a complaint through a civil rights organisation.<br /><br />Barillas is the first rebel commander to be convicted for such crimes.
