Tommy Ramone, the last surviving member of influential punk band the Ramones, has died.<br /><br />The band was founded in New York in 1974. Tommy was the original drummer and co-produced the first three albums.<br /><br />The Ramones had been influenced by Lou Reed and Andy Warhol, but they themselves helped shape rock music. Many say they invented punk rock.<br /><br />Rolling Stone magazine described the band’s music style as “urban surf music.”<br /><br />Tommy Ramone had been receiving cancer treatment at a New York hospice when he died. <br /><br />He was 65.
