Tragedy strikes eastern Afghanistan.<br/> <br />At least 89 people died when a car bomb explodes in a crowded market -- one of the year's most violent attacks.<br/> <br />The death toll is expected to rise, as authorities say dozens of people are trapped under shop roofs.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Pashto) MOHIBULLAH SAMEEM, GOVERNOR OF PAKTIKA PROVINCE, SAYING:<br/> <br />"The enemies of Afghanistan detonated a car bomb in this area that martyred a huge number of our people and also wounded some of our youth.
