Rescue workers at the scene of a Malaysian airliner that went down over the Donetsk region of Ukraine have recovered the second flight recorder.<br /><br />The passenger jet was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it crashed in Eastern Ukraine on Thursday afternoon.<br /><br />Most of the passengers were Dutch, travelling with dozens of Malaysians, almost 30 Australians and other nationalities.<br /><br />The Australian government said some of the passengers on the plane were heading to a major international AIDS conference in Melbourne.<br /><br />The plane had been travelling over a war-torn area of the east of the country. It was due to enter Russian airspace when it lost contact and came down close to the Russian border.<br /><br />Pro-Russian separatists have agreed to assist in the crash investigation, ensuring safe access to international experts.
