Andes avalanche kills U.S. climber, injures another

A young mountain climber from the U.S. was killed on Monday and his friend seriously injured in an avalanche in the Peruvian Andes.<br/> <br />23-year-old Kile Colleman Kennedy and his friend 22-year-old John Collins were climbing the El Piramide mountain when they were buried by the avalanche.<br/> <br />Collins managed to break free despite his injuries and call for help.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) HEAD OF MOUNTAIN POLICE TEAM, ROCIO MAYHUA, SAYING:<br/> <br />"John Collins told us that his friend, the citizen Colleman was still on the mountain and he thought that he was already dead."<br/> <br />Mountain police discovered Kennedy's body on Tuesday.<br/> <br />In June, two Italian mountain climbers were killed in the same area, which is home to some of the tallest mountains in Peru.
